Pioneers Kharga Oasis Hotel
Pioneers Hotel in Kharga is an oasis in the oasis, and is being described as being an resort that "caters to travelers who share a love for nature, a longing for adventure, and appreciation for orignal culture".
The hotel have 102 rooms, all with direct telephone, satellite TV, individually adjustable air condition, balcony, bathroom with bath tub, mini-fridge and non-smoking rooms.
Of facilities the hotel got its Palm restaurant, Oasis bar and open-air BBQ, mirage bar, lobby cafe, Sindadya village and oriental restaurant. Further a large sweet water pool, sun-beds and umbrellas, volleyball, basketball and tennis courts, variety of shops, library and business facilities.
As important with Kharga and Pioneers Hotel is that it represent the desert and Oasis experience all can experience - as its not much more than three hours away from Luxor who most travelers to Egypt already have on their route.
Its our strongest recommendation to all travelers to Egypt to have two days and a night here - to experience the magic of the desert, Kharga Oasis and Pioneers Hotel.
It was here Howard Carter himself announced for the first time the finding of the now so famous tomb of TutAnchAmon.

tour updates:
Camel safari is an exiting form for travelling, but don't plan too long journeys before you are used to ride. Is it your first time on a camel, plan at least a few days in one of the oases so you gradually can get used to ride the "ship of the desert". It's all well worth it as there is hardly any way more unique travelling the seas of sand.
This is from Qasr El Mut, the old medieval city in the Dakhla oasis. Mut is still the centre in the large oasis and the name comes from Pharaonic times when Mut was the wife of the sun god Amon of Luxor.
Here a photo from one of the largest stalactite and stalagmite caves in the world, with amazing cave paintings. It's located between Farafra oasis and the Nile valley.

Map over the Wadi Gedid and it's Oases in the Western Desert of Egypt. Including a detailed map of each of the oases.
Luxor is
a rather small town compared with Cairo and Alexandria. Still, no place on this planet can you find so many monuments gathered at one place as here. One need normally more than a package tour to be able to enjoy the city and see a fair part of what is found here.
