Archeological & Historical Tours
If we define history starting with the written language, then Egypt have 5000 years of history. Add to this pre-dynastic history all the way back to remains of the dinosaurs found here.
Last five thousand years can very roughly be divided into nearly three thousand years of Pharaonic culture, then from 332 BC first the Greek (Ptolemaic) period for three hundred years, then six hundred years with Roman rule (east and west).
Christian period starts with Marc the Evangelist coming to Egypt around year 50 AD, and the Islamic period begin in year 639 AD. Both religions coexisting as a family in this country up to this day. The Egyptian revolution in 1952 is often defined as starting point for today's Egypt.
There is lot's of gods in Ancient Egypt, and in addition was the sun god Atum born in a suburb of today's Cairo. He was born in Yunu (Matariya) where the biblical Joseph married the daughter of the high priest, and leading Greek thinkers as Plato, Pythagoras and Solon came down to study and learn.
Still many Egyptologist discuss the concept of one or many gods in Ancient Egypt. As per example was the sun in the morning the newborn sun god Horus, in the middle of the day Amon and in the evening the old Atum. During the night of course Osiris who lived and ruled in Am Duat, the kingdom of death. In other words, the ancient Egyptians referred to many aspects of the sun - not several suns.

After the Pharaonic time came as said Christianity and later Islam to this culture and the Jewish community existed here before both. So for us to say, "historical tour in Egypt" is truly to take quite a mouthful. Best is to know a bit in advance what you want to see. The options are many, samples from all the five thousand years of history or specific periods?

Another reason we need information in advance for specialised tours is that some monuments need special permissions, and further to be able to find time for leading experts to give lectures when needed.
Schools and Universities are among those we create tours for and some of our last tours have included jewellery in Ancient Egypt and medicine in Ancient Egypt. First for a group of goldsmiths and second for medical doctors.
If you are interested in the history but do not know much in advance, do not worry - history becomes exiting in Egypt on all levels!
